But what the heck is cornmint? It's just another name for field mint, a species found throughout North America and Europe. The menthol in both oils irritates mice's nasal passages, so they definitely don't want to get too close.

Many natural rodent control products use peppermint and spearmint. Peppermint oil has a menthol content of around 40%. Mouse Away is different. It uses Cornmint oil for its higher menthol content — closer to 50-60% at minimum, with some preparations containing up to 80%. Together, the cornmint and spearmint oils in Mouse Away give off a distinctly full-bodied minty aroma that rodents hate.
